The Gillis Community Room

As part of our Church Re-ordering Project, a new multi-use Community Room is under construction in the church building. This space will allow us to invite our groups back who have either disbanded or moved to less than adequate facilities since the fire in June 2006. We have opted to convert one end of the church into the Community Room, because construction of the Village Life Centre will take some time as we continue to raise money for that endeavour.

Dedication of Community Room
On Sunday, 28 October 2007, the Bishop of Wakefield, the Rt. Revd. Stephen Platten, will dedicate the Community Room to the memory of Mrs. Noeline Hirst who was chruchwarden for many years and who died in January 2007. Mrs. Hirst worked hard to keep the church going during difficult years and was courageous enough to agree to the filming of Channel 4's documentary about our church.

Needed Items
Our budget for the Church Re-ordering Project will allow us to construct a shell for the Community Room and the adjoining serving kitchen. However, we are seeking additional funding to furnish the room with folding tables and chairs and to equip the kitchen with appliances and crockery.
