Run the Race Teen Club is a community-based club offered by St. Mary Magdalene Church. It was formed in February 2006 to offer a positive venue in response to some difficulties that had taken place in the village. Initially we offered a Wednesday evening programme that was well attended until the church hall was razed by fire in June 2006.
Although, this club is constituted as a non-sectarian community club, the name 'Run the Race' comes from the writings of St. Paul in the New Testament to encourage us to keep persevering until we reach the goal, not to give up, and to press on until the end prize. Many of the young people in our village face tremendous challenges and some give way to low aspirations and despair. Our hope is to not just be a source of entertainment, but to encourage the young people to meet their full potential.
Cinema Club Project
Surround sound and a wide screen are being installed in our new Gillis Community Room. We will offer the young people of Lundwood a cinema experience with special showsing several times a month.
